I’ve been really blessed on my journey through life. I’ve had enough bad stuff to keep me stretching to grow and enough good stuff to make it all worthwhile. I think you could say it all adds up to be ….well…..fabulous!
One of the things that I’ve learnt along the way is that there are Five Fundamentals for a Fabulous Life.
I know – only five fundamentals makes a fabulous life sound so easy right! And it kind of is. Once you get in the swing of it.
Fundamental #1: Feeeeeling good.
Yep – to have a fabulous life you need to feeeeeel good. Emotionally, physically and mentally.
Feeeeeling good isn’t just the absence of feeling bad. Feeeeling good means cultivating positive emotions, getting healthy physically, and training your mind to feeeeel good too.
For some people the place to start might be with working on having the absence of bad feeeeelings. The skills we use to overcome bad feelings like depression, anxiety, and stress are different than the ones we use to get happy, feel fulfilled and stay satisfied. If you’re feeling depressed, anxious and stressed it’s important to get those out of the way. Then you can get on your path to a fabulous life.
Fundamental #2: Getting in the Flow
There are some things that when we’re doing them we lose all sense of time cos we’re enjoying them so much. This my dears is getting in the flow. Getting in the flow is awesomely good fun.
Some people are lucky enough to have found their flow. For others it’s a discovery waiting to happen.
Usually where you find flow is where your strengths are. So finding your strengths is a fundamental in finding flow which is a fundamental for a fabulous life. So definitely find your flow.
Fundamental #3: Really Relating
It’s not surprising that good relationships are fundamental to a fabulous life. But we’re not just talking yummy scrummy romantic relationships. I’m also talking our relationships with friends and family. AND relationships with things that are bigger than us. No – not giants. Big things like our relationship to religion, or spirituality, or our local community, or our global community. And for the career driven types – even our relationship to our organisation or workplace.
Isn’t it exciting that there are so many ways to get this fundamental for fabulousness working in our lives!
Fundamental #4: Meaning and Purpose
This fundamental is really the foundation of most of the other fundamentals. Without having a sense of meaning and purpose in life it’s hard to feeeeel fabulous and it’s hard to have a fabulous life.
Your meaning and purpose doesn’t have to be “I want to cure the world of cancer” or “My purpose is to end world poverty”. It can be much closer to home. For example it could be to “be the best mother I can be”, or “be the most loving person I can be”, or to “share my wonderful gift of…. with others”.
Finding what your passions are can help with discovering your purpose. And when you’ve got those under wraps you’re more than likely way more than a fifth of the way to having a fabulous life. (Don’t forget to check my Finding Your Passions course)
Fundamental #5: Achievement and Success
This might sound a little funny to you – achievement and success are necessary for a fabulous life. I’ve gone on and on in the past about material things contributing very little to our happiness. And I guess material things are what come to mind when we mention achievement and success.
BUT that’s not necessarily the achievement and success I’m talking about. You can be successful in so many ways. And your achievements can be in areas that have meaning to you. Like…..learning to play the guitar, learning a new language, conquering a fear, raising an emotionally healthy child. The list is endless.
But I do know that having a good dose of achievement and success makes for a fabulous life.
Over the coming weeks I’ll be going into way more detail about all the Five Fundamentals of a Fabulous Life so make sure you check it out.
