I was listening to an audio book on Taoism on my drive the other day. They were talking about Qi (very simplified – our life force) and how we die when it runs out.
They followed this with ways life can drain your Qi and ways life can build it.
Even if you don’t believe in Qi, I think what follows is some pretty good advice.
Living a life devoid of passion is soul (and Qi) destroying. Living a life filled with passion is soul (and Qi) nourishing.
There’s probably no need to explain what a life devoid of passion is like. I hope you haven’t experienced it but I’m sure a lot of people have had at least some time of it.
So instead let’s look at increasing the passion to build that Qi.
What little passions are you not including in your life right now?
Could you dance more? Pick up your guitar? Read more books? Write that novel you always wanted to? Cook for friends? Take a class? Throw a fancy dress party cos you like to dress as a princess? Bake some bread? Plant a vegie garden?
Anyway, you get the picture.
I think we get caught in the idea that passion has to be PASSION. Big, important, life purpose kinda stuff.
But what if life purpose kinda PASSION is made up of living all the smaller passions? Would living with passion seem more do-able?
Why don’t you give it a try and let me know!
