I’ll be honest – I love this sh*t where science catches up to spiritual. Where stuff other cultures have been doing for eons suddenly changes from ‘eye rolling kooky’ to ‘latest medical breakthrough’.
And here’s one that totally fits that bill.
There are many ancient cultures that have used the energy of the earth for healing. We even did it not that long ago. Remember tree hugging hippies?
Well, guess what? All of a sudden science says this is cool and useful and actually changes many things for the better in our bodies.
Like reducing pain. Quite considerably. And inflammation. Quite considerably. And improving sleep. Quite considerably.
It even helps wounds repair more quickly. The article I read described an 84 year old diabetic woman who had a non-healing wound. After only 2 weeks of grounding/earthing her wound had healed over. This was a woman who had tried every treatment under the sun in a wound healing clinic for months. Crazy good, right?
So how do you get these good things happening for you?
You get out in nature.
Barefoot.
And make contact with the earth.
And let the electrons from the earth’s surface enter your body and do their work as natural antioxidants.
You can probably even hug a few trees while you’re at it.
There’s a stack of research on how being in nature is helpful for mental health as well but I won’t go into that here. Just keep in mind that when you’re tiptoeing barefoot through the tulips you’re helping your mind and body.
